Double Crime in Greece: Man Killed Partner Then Himself After Lying in Wait for 45-Year-Old Albanian Woman, Neighbours’ Testimonies Revealed

Greek media have revealed further details about the serious incident in Athens, where a man and an Albanian woman were found shot dead at the entrance to an apartment building.

Investigators suspect the man committed the murder after allegedly waiting for the 45-year-old woman to leave the building. Following an argument, he reportedly shot her dead before turning the gun on himself and shooting himself in the head.

Neighbours said they heard three gunshots, several seconds apart.

“I was sleeping at home, but I was not in a deep sleep. Suddenly, we heard three very loud noises, and we did not know whether they were gunshots.

“There was no reaction; there was a gap of several seconds. Shortly afterwards, we heard the patrol car’s siren. I did not understand what had happened. It did not occur to me that it was gunfire,” said one resident of the building, describing the incident.

Although formal identification is still being completed, authorities said the two people were of Albanian origin, aged between 35 and 45, and were not married.

The 45-year-old victim did not live in the building, but had gone there to visit her daughter, who lives there. Homicide investigators are assessing physical evidence, ballistic analyses and forensic findings to fully clarify the history of their relationship and the motives behind this tragedy.

Authorities have seized video footage that captured the entire scene and are investigating to clarify the circumstances of the incident.
