SCPC imposes 94 fines on former mayors, directors and councilors for delays in declaring assets

The State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption imposed a total of 94 fines on July 29, worth a total of 28,200 euros. Each sanctioned person was fined 300 euros for failing to comply with the legal deadline for declaring assets and interests.

The measures were imposed on elected and appointed officials who had not submitted their asset and interest declarations within the legally निर्धारित timeframe, 4news.mk reports. They include former mayors, directors of institutions and public enterprises, municipal councilors, members of management and supervisory boards, judges, members of parliament and other officials.

The list also includes Kostadin Kostadinov, former mayor of Strumica; Aleksandar Stojkoski, former mayor of Gjorče Petrov; and Alija Jaoski, former mayor of Plasnica.

Among those fined is Vase Ristov, who was sanctioned after completing his term as director general of the Macedonian Opera and Ballet.

In some cases, the violation was recorded more than once, during different periods. Dragi Kushovski received two fines: the first after being appointed director of JSP Skopje and the second after the end of his term. Nenad Josevski was also punished with two separate sanctions for his position as acting director of the public enterprise “Drislla.” Darko Jangelov was likewise fined after being appointed secretary of the Municipality of Vinica and again after leaving the post.

Those sanctioned also include Luke Galeski, after being elected a member of the Council of the City of Skopje, and Martin Stojanovski, after being elected a member of parliament.

The SCPC also included in the list people appointed to management positions in public institutions and enterprises. Among them are Elena Pagovska Peltekovski, Katarina Mirčovska and other officials.

Municipal councilors account for the largest number of cases. Those fined are from Kumanovo, Želino, Gazi Baba, Tearce, Debar, Ohrid, Strumica, Čaška, Gostivar, Radoviš, Debarca, Sopište, Novaci and Demir Kapija.

According to data published by the SCPC, the fines do not establish that these individuals had undeclared or concealed assets. The sanctions were imposed because they failed to submit their asset and interest declarations on time, either after taking office or after leaving it.

In certain cases, the Commission also established incompatibility of functions, meaning that two positions prohibited by law from being held simultaneously were exercised in parallel. These violations were also punishable by fines of 300 euros.
