School Supplies 15% Cheaper Until September 30

School supplies needed for the start of the new school year are 15% cheaper following a decision approved by the Government yesterday. The measure took effect yesterday and will remain in force until September 30, 2026.

The decision covers notebooks, backpacks, pencil cases, pencils and pens, colored pencils, modeling clay, writing pads, markers, tempera paints, paints and brushes, rulers, teaching aids, pencil sharpeners, erasers, children’s scissors, boxes, glue, compasses, calculators, decorative paper, folders and cardboard bags, as well as materials for handicrafts.

Government spokesperson Marija Miteva said yesterday that, with the start of the new school year, the aim is to reduce expenses for families and protect citizens’ standard of living.

Under the government decision, wholesalers must reduce the prices of school supplies by at least 10%, while retailers are required to apply a reduction of at least 15%.

In addition to the new reduced price, retailers must also display the previous price, which was in effect on June 1, 2026. This price will be used as the basis for calculating the reduction.
