JYSK’s history in the region began in 2004, with the opening of its first store in Kosovo. Since then, the business has expanded into a regional network of 25 stores in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia.
The business has been developed in cooperation with the local teams in the respective markets, enabling the JYSK brand to establish a consolidated position in the region.
The three local franchise companies have worked closely with JYSK Denmark to strengthen the brand and expand it across all three markets. Their progress has been supported by their understanding of local needs, market experience and commitment to offering quality home products inspired by the Scandinavian lifestyle.
“We are very proud of what we have built together over these years. From opening the first JYSK store to reaching 25 stores in three countries, this is an achievement that reflects the work and contribution of our teams, the trust of our customers and the strength of our partnership with JYSK. We are particularly proud to have built companies and a business with high standards, which have attracted such foreign direct investment to Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia from a powerful international group with a broad portfolio of brands. For us, this is important recognition of what we have built over the years and a significant moment for our company. We are pleased that this business is entering a new phase together with JYSK,” said Mr. Fatmir Zymberi, owner of Scandinavian Living Holding.
The transition to JYSK Denmark’s direct structure is seen as the logical continuation of the business’s development in these markets. In this new phase, the companies will be able to rely on direct investment and JYSK’s continued focus on further regional expansion.
The transaction is expected to be completed on January 1, 2027.
The change will not cause any disruption for customers. JYSK will continue operating in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia through its existing stores and online channels.
Scandinavian Living Holding is the parent company of a diverse portfolio of businesses developed through local companies in the region.
The portfolio includes the companies managing JYSK’s operations in Kosovo, Albania and North Macedonia, as well as KFC franchise businesses in Kosovo, Albania, North Macedonia and Montenegro.
The group also owns and operates its logistics center and Scan Color, while being one of the main investors in Prishtina Mall. Through these activities, Scandinavian Living Holding has built a broad portfolio of companies and brands over the years, developing businesses with high standards and a stable presence in Kosovo and the region’s markets.
