Failure to Play the Albanian National Anthem, Pustec Ends Cooperation with OBRM-PDUKM Albania

The Municipality of Pustec has announced that it will end all cooperative relations with the OBRM-PDUKM Albania Association following an incident recorded on August 20 at an event held in Pustec, where the Albanian National Anthem was not played.

In a response to Albanian Post, the Pustec Municipality described the situation as unacceptable, emphasizing that it contradicted the agreement previously reached with the organizers.

The local institution said that, before the event, it had requested that the Albanian National Anthem be included in the program and played during the ceremony. However, the request was not implemented at the August 20 event.

According to the Municipality of Pustec, failure to respect the request communicated earlier constitutes an unacceptable act and runs counter to the agreement reached with the organizers.

The municipality said it would ask the organizers for an official explanation of the reasons that led to the failure to carry out the request to play the Albanian National Anthem.

But beyond requesting clarification, the institution has decided to end all relations with the OBRM-PDUKM Albania Association following this action.

“The municipality will ask the organizer for an official explanation regarding the reasons for failing to implement the request made in advance to play the Albanian National Anthem, and after this action it will end all relations with the OBRM-PDUKM Albania Association,” the official response said.

The event prompted reactions following the August 20 activity in Pustec. The mayor had publicly expressed the institution’s position regarding the failure to respect the request concerning the Albanian National Anthem.

In its full response to Albanian Post, the Municipality of Pustec reiterated that the situation created was unacceptable and did not conform to the agreement previously communicated with the organizers.

The local institution also emphasized that the press statements made by the mayor of Pustec reflect the municipality’s official position clearly.
