Saimir Korreshi clashes with Manja at the Law Commission: My mother cannot even use the remote control, let alone e-Albania

During the review of a draft law on artificial intelligence by the Law Commission, Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi and Socialist Party MP Ulsi Manja became involved in a heated exchange.

Korreshi took a strongly critical stance, pointing out that while digitalization and advanced technology are being discussed, even the most basic conditions are lacking on the ground.

He mentioned the case of his mother, who is still unable to use even the television remote control, let alone access the e-Albania platform. “She tells me to leave that channel alone and not touch it,” the MP quoted her as saying.

“We are in rags and aspiring to an A grade,” he continued, adding that in administrative units, you have to open an umbrella to protect the computers from dampness.

“The situation is catastrophic; you are ashamed to go inside, and you are talking to us about artificial intelligence. Nothing works there,” Korreshi declared.

Manja replied that they would fix the problems and asked whether he had finished his questions. “I believe you have finished, since you made a statement. Do you have any other questions?” he said.

Korreshi immediately responded: “You got tired that quickly?” while Manja denied it, saying: “No, I did not get tired.”

Later, the opposition MP elaborated on his criticism, saying that when an MP enters an office, not even a single computer turns on. He also stressed that their email system has been changed 17 times, making it impossible to use. “I do not know how to use it. The responsibility lies with the state,” Korreshi concluded.
