Clash in the Law Commission: Korreshi responds to Gogu over the “joke” and mentions Sokol Sadushi

Minister Toni Gogu and Democratic Party MP Saimir Korreshi became involved in a debate during today’s meeting of the Law Affairs Commission.

The discussion began after Korreshi spoke in strong terms about judges. Gogu told the DP lawmaker that he still had not understood the role of an MP and described his remarks as a joke.

Korreshi responded by saying that he had taken the joke from Sokol Sadushi, the current chair of the Supreme Court.

Toni Gogu: I have the impression that you are the only person who has not understood the consequences of your own actions through your questions. There is a major difference between a female MP who has drafted a bill, whether good or bad, and brought it forward for the implementation of a decision, and an MP who tells jokes about the malfunctioning of the courts. I would suggest that you read the Constitutional Court’s decision, submit a bill, and perhaps it could address the problem more effectively.

Saimir Korreshi: Oh, honorable, highly honorable chair. He said “joke.”

Ulsi Manja: The word “joke” is not prohibited in the dictionary.

Saimir Korreshi: Wait now, be patient. I want to tell the minister that I took the joke from Sokol Sadushi. It is a joke told by the chair of the Supreme Court to the chair of the High Judicial Council, so it is a joke. You call that chair of the Supreme Court a joke, the one you keep around with a scarf whenever meetings about partisans are held. Do you understand where we are? We are discussing the Constitutional Court’s decisions. We requested a meeting to address the issue within the legal framework, but your ministry did not approve it. Why? Well, forget about the question of jurisdiction; nobody pays any attention to you.
