Russian drone strikes school in Kyiv, children escape harm after sheltering in an air-raid shelter; one dead and two injured

A school building in Kyiv’s Solomianskyi district caught fire after being hit by a Russian drone. The consequences could have been more serious, but the children were in the air-raid shelter at the time of the attack.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the incident via Telegram, saying that the students had taken shelter and that emergency teams were heading to the site of the strike.

The attack also affected other facilities. Drone debris fell on a warehouse, causing material damage.

Reports of fatalities and injuries have also emerged from other regions of Ukraine following Russian attacks.

In the city of Sumy, at least two women, aged 60 and 41, were injured overnight by a guided aerial bomb that struck a residential area. Regional Governor Serhii Kryvosheienko said the target was located in the private housing sector of Kovpakivskyi district and that around six homes were damaged.

Another drone attack in Mykolaiv region killed a 50-year-old man in the Vesnianska community.

According to Regional Governor Heorhii Reshetilov, the area was attacked during the evening and in the early morning hours by Shahed/Gerbera drones.

The strikes are part of a new wave of Russian bombardments that has affected targets and residential areas across Ukraine.
