Rexhepi after meeting with Kurti: Constitutive session expected soon, talks with LDK underway on president

Emilja Rexhepi, leader of the NDS, has revealed details of a meeting held last night with acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti. During the meeting, representatives of non-majority communities were briefed on developments concerning an agreement between the Vetëvendosje Movement and the LDK on the election of the president of Kosovo.

Speaking to the media, Rexhepi described the meeting as friendly. According to her, Kurti informed the community representatives about the progress of the agreement and the proposal for Bekim Sejdiu to be their joint candidate for president.

The discussions were not limited to the issue of the head of state. Rexhepi said the meeting also addressed the constitution of the Assembly and the formation of the new government.

She said electing the speaker of the Assembly was one of the steps that should be taken as soon as possible to allow the process of constituting the institutions to move forward.

Rexhepi said the vote for the speaker of Parliament should take place without delay, while the constitutive session is expected to be convened very soon.
