Released under penal amnesty, Besmir Gjezari accuses of unjust conviction, separation from family, and threats

Besmir Gjezari walked out of prison this Wednesday after benefiting from the penal amnesty, and immediately lashed out with accusations against the justice authorities, whom he blames for an undeserved sentence. He warned that he will begin a legal confrontation to seek his rights.

The convict said the court had handed him a five-year prison sentence on charges of producing and selling narcotics, although he had served two years and seven months of that term. Gjezari insisted that he was never caught in the act with illegal substances and that the accusations were entirely unfounded.

He expressed his determination that, now that he is free, he will restart all legal procedures from scratch. According to him, this is only the beginning of a fight to prove his innocence.

Gjezari also stressed that for more than two years, he was denied any communication with his family. He recounted that he has a three-year-old child, whom he had left at around one year of age, and since then he has not been able to see him again because his visitation rights were unjustly blocked.

Furthermore, Gjezari claimed that both he and his family members have been the target of constant threats, including direct threats to his life. He said he feels highly endangered.
