Penal Amnesty Frees Rozeta Dobi from Pojska Prison, Convicted of Stealing 120,000 Euros

Rozeta Dobi was released this Wednesday from the women’s prison in Pojska, after being included among the beneficiaries of the penal amnesty. She became known as the cleaner involved in one of the most sensational criminal events of 2023, where hundreds of thousands of euros were stolen.

Her arrest took place in January 2023, on charges of taking 120,000 euros, 30,000 US dollars, and valuables from the home of Alda Klosi, a former senior state official. Dobi had worked as a cleaner in her apartment for nearly five years.

As part of the investigation, police searched Rozeta Dobi’s home. Inside the vacuum cleaner tube, they discovered 404,000 euros, 8,500 US dollars, and a quantity of gold jewelry hidden, which were seized.

Authorities also seized 58,150 euros, 7,000 dollars, 368,000 new lek, and three vehicles. Two of the cars were suspected to have been purchased with money obtained from the theft.

The case attracted widespread public attention, both for the large monetary sums discovered and for the subsequent investigations regarding their origin.

After serving part of her sentence, Rozeta Dobi left her cell in Pojska prison today and regained her freedom thanks to the penal amnesty.
