Real Madrid heading towards another record-breaking summer, Manuel Angel and David Jimenez close to departure

Manuel Angel and David Jimenez continue their preparations with dedication at the “La Fabrica” training centre, even though it is now clear that they will not continue their careers at Real Madrid.

The two Madrid-born talents are waiting for a suitable offer, with clubs from La Liga, La Liga 2 and other European leagues showing interest in them.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Real Madrid’s management have decided not to field them in friendlies or official Castilla matches, in order to avoid a potential injury that would complicate their transfer.

Manuel Angel was close to a move last summer as well. Levante had shown strong interest in the midfielder, while Aston Villa were also in the race. However, he decided to stay for another season in Madrid.

Last season he wore the captain’s armband and, initially under the guidance of Álvaro Arbeloa and later of López de Lerma, came closer to the first team. By the end of the season, Angel had made seven appearances for the senior side, playing 129 minutes and showing that he is ready for a higher-level challenge.

David Jimenez is in the same situation. The right-back, part of the same golden generation, was a key figure in the team and came close to the 20-assist mark during an outstanding season.

At Valdebebas, Jimenez is considered one of the most technical players in the academy. On the pitch he is often described as “Arbeloa’s right-hand man,” while standing out for his offensive contribution, set pieces and composure on the ball – traits that resemble a midfielder more than a defender.

The sale of these two players is expected to push Real Madrid’s income from academy product transfers above €200 million. The deal for Jacobo Ortega alone, worth €10 million, has taken the total amount to more than €199 million.

Club officials at Valdebebas had earlier spoken of a “historic summer,” a prediction that is now taking shape. In a significant portion of these transfers, Real Madrid has also retained a percentage of rights over the future sales of the players.

The list of sold players includes Nico Paz (€60 million), Gonzalo (€40 million), Víctor Muñoz (€20.5 million), Gila (€15 million), Alvaro Rodriguez (€12.5 million), Alex Jiménez (€12.5 million), Palacios (€10 million), Jacobo Ortega (€10 million), Fran Garcia (€4 million), Mario Martín (€3 million) and Fran Gonzalez (€3 million).
