Speaking with journalist Rudina Xhunga on his podcast “Flasim,” he said that the dissatisfaction expressed by citizens had prompted him to reflect on the transformation of Albanian society and the increasingly high expectations of government.

Referring to his resignation, Rama said: “Perhaps the time will come to explain it.” To illustrate his point, he also mentioned a mayor who, despite having made investments for the community, had nevertheless faced residents’ dissatisfaction.

According to the prime minister, this reaction does not necessarily constitute a lack of gratitude, but is linked to the way citizens’ demands have changed.

Rama recalled that votes were once won even through simple interventions, such as laying gravel in a neighborhood. While a new road, school or lighting system was met with applause and visible gratitude, the situation is different today. “The further the country advances, the more inclined citizens are to say, ‘What about this other thing?’” he said.

The prime minister acknowledged that at first he had neither anticipated nor immediately understood this change.

He explained that he later began following the signals, analyzing them and better understanding the feedback he was receiving from society. According to Rama, this is precisely where the real test begins for a leader or person in charge: having the pride, the right and the courage to accept that the person challenging him may also be right.

Rama defined this development as “the revolution of high expectations,” since every improvement in a service leads citizens to make new demands.

“It is a change in Albania’s season,” the prime minister said, citing the example of water supply: a city that previously had only two hours of water a day, after moving to 14 hours, demands a 24-hour supply.

During another part of the interview, Rama addressed the role of technology and fake profiles in shaping the narratives circulating on social media. In this context, he also referred to the debate surrounding the investment project in Sazan.

According to him, some accounts are created artificially and presented as profiles of real users, with the aim of giving voice to different narratives. “They were not there; they do not exist. They are created in a laboratory and give voice to different narratives,” Rama declared.
