Rama gathers ministers and political leaders at a government villa, avoiding the Socialist Party headquarters

Prime Minister Edi Rama’s meeting with the 12 political leaders of the Socialist Party and the ministers has begun at a government villa on the outskirts of Tirana.

The meeting had been scheduled to take place at the Socialist Party headquarters, but the location was changed following calls for a protest outside the party’s “pink” headquarters and warnings that participants could be pelted with eggs.

According to Socialist Party sources cited by Top Channel journalist Muhamed Veliu, the decision not to hold the meeting at the party headquarters was based on two reasons.

The first was to avoid possible incidents in an area frequented by many tourists, where it would have been difficult to secure a broad security perimeter.

The second reason was the aim of not providing “fuel” for the protest algorithm, which was expected to produce videos of ministers and political leaders being hit with eggs.

Today’s meeting is seen as a continuation of the discussions held in Pogradec and aims to accelerate the implementation of the commitments set out in the “Besa” and “Pasqyra Albania” documents.

During his stay in Pogradec, Edi Rama asked the political leaders to begin preparations for the upcoming local elections. For this reason, it cannot be ruled out that this issue will be part of the discussions at today’s meeting.

Starting this Saturday, the political leaders will begin a tour of the 12 counties, together with Socialist Party lawmakers, to explain the “Besa” and “Pasqyra Albania” documents to the Socialist base.
