Rama appoints Ervin Demo interior minister: I will advance the government’s objectives!

Ervin Demo has succeeded Besfort Lamallari at the helm of the Ministry of the Interior, following the latter’s dismissal by Prime Minister Edi Rama.

Speaking for the first time since news broke of his appointment to lead one of the country’s most important ministries, Ervin Demo pledged to keep the government’s objectives at the heart of his duties and work.

“Prime Minister, first of all, thank you very much for your trust. It is a major responsibility. I am confident that I will advance the government’s priorities. I will, of course, continue the work that Besfort has begun and carried out very well, and I will continue to work with Besfort in his role here at the Prime Minister’s Office. I am confident that the work concerns not only the Ministry of the Interior, but also, more broadly, our relationship with communities as a whole, including within the framework of Besa. I believe the Ministry of the Interior has a very important role, and we will be fully focused on moving this work forward,” Demo said.

Meanwhile, following his departure as minister of the Interior, Besfort Lamallari thanked the head of government for the opportunities he had been given in his political and institutional career. He also said he would continue to serve the public with the same dedication in the role envisaged for him at the Prime Minister’s Office.

“Thank you for the trust you have placed in me over these 10 years. I feel that I have grown not only professionally, but also as a person, learning to better understand people when they voice their concerns. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to return home, because this is where the entire journey began and where I joined your team.

“Besides being a great privilege, it has been an extraordinary experience for which I sincerely thank you. I have done my utmost never to disappoint you. It is an absolute pleasure and honor to continue this journey and to stand by your side in all the good work that lies ahead for Albania and Albanians,” Lamallari said.
