After resigning as minister, Rama reveals Besfort Lamallari’s new position

Prime Minister Edi Rama has revealed the new position that Besfort Lamallari will take after resigning as head of the Ministry of the Interior.

In a video shared on social media, in which Lamallari and the new interior minister, Ervin Demo, were present in his office at the Prime Minister’s Office, Rama said that Lamallari would move to the Prime Minister’s Office, where he would become part of his team.

“Today we have decided to make a change in the team on the field, and Besfort, from heading the Ministry of the Interior, will move to my bench, together with me and the team at the Prime Minister’s Office,” Rama declared.

The prime minister also announced that Ervin Demo would take charge of internal affairs, which would also include local government affairs.

“Meanwhile, Ervin will oversee internal affairs, where we will also integrate local government matters. This is not something new in the ministry’s history, but after taking full shape as a separate area, the transfer of part of the structure will take place,” Rama said.

In this way, local government affairs will once again come under the responsibility of the Ministry of the Interior, while some of the relevant structures are expected to be integrated into the ministry.
