Rama Admits State Employees Took to the Streets Against Him: By Day at State Jobs, by Night Joining Others on the Boulevard

This Friday, during his speech at the extended meeting of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, Prime Minister Edi Rama admitted that state administration employees and socialists took part in the protest against him, which has been going on for about two months.

The prime minister stressed that those who worked state jobs, in the evening joined other citizens on the boulevard.

According to him, the absorbing force of the protest was stronger for them than his own figure.

Also, the prime minister added that the administration came out in protest because “the new Albania that we have built does not live under the shadow of the old one, where people were fired from state jobs because they attended a meeting of ours in the opposition”.

“So I want to say right from the start, straight to the faces of those who protested against the mayor, those who took to the boulevard during June and those who have protested in silence and with voice, alone or with others, anywhere in Albania or abroad, not only during June but ever since the elections, you are not ungrateful, but the new measurer of our standards.

You there in the suburb of a municipality did not protest against what the mayor had done for you; you who filled the boulevard did not protest against the Albania we built during the first three mandates, and here, not a few of those voters, supporters and members of the SP, but also those who during the day were at state work and in the evening went to the boulevard, they did not come out to attack the government or join the chant ‘Rama resign’.

Those who voted for us in June came out and joined the others even when the protest was directed against me because its absorbing force was more imposing for them than my figure. Those from the administration came out with the others because the new Albania that we have built does not live under the shadow of the old one, where people were fired from state jobs because they attended a meeting of ours in the opposition”, the prime minister stated.
