Rama admits administration protested against him: By day they were at state jobs, by night they joined others on the boulevard!

Prime Minister Edi Rama, during his speech at the extended meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, admitted that state administration employees and socialists rose up in the protest against him, which has been ongoing for about two months.

The Prime Minister stressed that those who worked in state jobs, by night would join other citizens on the boulevard. According to him, the pull of the protest was stronger for them than his own figure.

The Prime Minister added that the administration joined the protest because “the new Albania we have built does not live under the shadow of the old one, where people were fired from state jobs for attending a meeting of ours while in opposition.”

“So I want to tell it straight to the eyes, from the start, to those who protested against the mayor, to those who came out on the boulevard during June, and to those who have protested with silence and voice, alone or with others, anywhere in Albania or abroad, not only during June but ever since the elections, you are not ungrateful, but the new yardstick of our standards.

You there on the outskirts of a municipality did not protest against what the mayor had done for you, you who filled the boulevard did not protest against the Albania we built during the first three terms, and here I address not few voters, supporters and members of the SP, but also those who by day were at state jobs and by evening went to the boulevard, they did not come out to attack the government or join the chant ‘Rama, resign’.

Those who voted for us in June, came out and joined others even when the protest was directed against me, because its gravitational pull was more compelling for them than my figure. Those from the administration also came out with the others because the new Albania we have built does not live under the shadow of the old one, where people were thrown out of state jobs for going to a meeting of ours in opposition.”
