Qorroli calls for prosecutor Hamza to be held accountable over Arlinda Zekaj case: She had sought protection

Vigan Qorroli, a member of parliament for the Vetëvendosje Movement, has called on prosecutor Suada Hamza to account for the way Arlinda Zekaj’s case was handled. He said the prosecutor had not paid attention to her request for protection.

Qorroli referred to Arlinda’s letter and said she had been waiting for the institutions to intervene.

“This is Arlinda’s letter. Written in her own hand, with the hope that someone would hear her, that someone would understand the danger to her life, that someone would intervene to protect her,” he wrote.

The MP criticized the prosecutor and called for her to be held accountable under the law. He linked the accusations to the institutions’ response to Arlinda’s plea for help.

Qorroli expressed sorrow over the killing and urged that her voice not be forgotten.

“How many times must a woman ask for help before she has the right to live in safety?” Qorroli wrote.

He said Arlinda’s letter remains evidence that she had asked to be protected.

“Let it serve as a reminder, a call to conscience and a demand for accountability. Because no woman should die after asking to live,” he concluded.

On Sunday evening, a woman was killed in Vitomiricë, Peja. Her brother-in-law is suspected of the killing and, according to the Kosovo Police, is at large.

Following the incident, a letter Arlinda Zekaj had sent to the Prosecution on October 22, 2026, was also made public. In it, she called for urgent measures and cited institutional failures in handling her case.
