Vladimir Putin has not ruled out the possibility of Russia striking military targets in the United Kingdom. Analyst Rosenberg views the statement as an attempt by the Kremlin to exert psychological pressure on Western countries.

During a press conference, Putin was asked to clarify whether Moscow could attack British military facilities in retaliation for London supplying Ukraine with weapons. The Russian president replied: “That is a secret. A military secret.”
Rosenberg said the response was neither a confirmation nor a denial. According to him, the ambiguity appears deliberate and is intended to keep Britain on edge, prompting it to reconsider its support for Ukraine.
The analyst placed Putin’s statement within the context of Moscow’s increasingly threatening rhetoric toward the West. At the same press conference, the Russian president described Western countries as “sharks” and warned that Russia would respond if it came under pressure.
“If someone tries to drag us down the food chain, swallow us or devour us, they may get punched in the teeth,” Putin said.
Rosenberg stressed that the Russian president’s words do not prove that Moscow is planning to use missiles against British territory. However, he warned that Russia could expand other forms of pressure, including “hybrid operations” against European countries.
As an example, he cited Germany, which has accused Russia of involvement in a drone attack on Leipzig Airport. German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt described the incident as part of an established pattern of Russian hybrid operations in Europe. The Kremlin has denied the allegations.
According to Rosenberg, the question now is whether similar actions could also increase in the United Kingdom.
The press conference was held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and also served to demonstrate Putin’s position on the war in Ukraine and the conflict with the West. For around 45 minutes, he appeared resolute and combative, expressing confidence in victory despite heavy losses among Russian forces on the battlefield and the difficulties facing the country’s economy.
“I have no doubt that the enemy will be destroyed,” Putin declared, as the war in Ukraine has entered its fifth year and Kyiv continues its resistance.
