Public transport returns to normal after agreement on fuel subsidies

Urban bus services are expected to resume operating at full capacity following an agreement reached at a meeting between the Urban and Interurban Transport Association and government representatives.

The discussions were held with the participation of Infrastructure Minister Enea Karakaçi and Economy Minister Delina Ibrahimaj.

Sector representatives announced that an agreement had been reached on a subsidy of 50 lekë per liter of fuel for public transport.

There is still no final decision on the duration of the measure.

It is currently being considered whether the subsidy will apply for June, July and August, or for the period of July, August and September.

With this development, urban transport operators are expected to normalize services and restore their fleets to full operation, resolving the difficulties that emerged in recent days.
