Protest in Pristina continues for 11th night in support of former KLA members

On September 26, 2026, at 20:23, citizens began gathering in Pristina’s central square for the 11th night of protests against the decision of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague concerning former KLA leaders.

Despite the low temperatures, many protesters had arrived at the gathering place, while others were joining them. Carrying placards and flags and wearing T-shirts, they expressed their opposition to the guilty verdict announced on September 16 for Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.

The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo is expected to convene on Monday, when lawmakers will consider amending the Law on the Specialist Chambers.

Among the thousands of citizens in central Pristina, an emotional moment was observed at 21:01. An elderly man with tears in his eyes was seen in Skanderbeg Square, moved by the atmosphere and the messages of the gathering.

The sight of him was described as one of the protest’s most meaningful and moving moments, reflecting how deeply citizens feel about the issue.

At 21:02, it was reported that protests in Kosovo in support of the former KLA leaders had continued throughout the day. Citizens gathered in large numbers in the capital to express their support for the liberators.

A few minutes later, at 21:10, a female protester delivered the message: “I am the daughter of February 17, Independence Day.”

She appeared in the crowd with a placard reading: “I am the daughter of February 17, born on Independence Day, raised with the debt of freedom you gave me.” The same placard also bore the words “Not in my name.”

Protesters have expressed support for the liberators and opposition to the decisions of the Specialist Chambers in The Hague concerning former KLA leaders. Similar messages have been conveyed at protests held in recent days, with calls for justice and support for former KLA members.
