Protest Enters Its 70th Day as Citizens Gather in Skanderbeg Square: Rama, Resign!

Citizens have begun gathering in Skanderbeg Square in Tirana on the 70th day of civic resistance against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama. Participants can be heard chanting against the government, while the main slogan is: “Rama, resign!”

Following the rally in Skanderbeg Square, protesters are expected to march toward the Prime Minister’s Office. There, they will continue their protest and their demands for the prime minister’s removal.

According to the organizers, the civic resistance began in response to a project to build a tourist resort in Zvërnec. The protest later evolved into a movement with direct political demands.

Participants are calling for sweeping political and institutional changes, including the removal of what they describe as the “old political class.” Even after 70 days, the main demand remains Edi Rama’s resignation and a change to the current model of governance. Attention is now focused on the march from Skanderbeg Square toward the Prime Minister’s Office, where the protest will continue.
