Protest enters its 32nd day, citizen from the podium: Rama and the government must go, SPAK must act on Balluku’s immunity

Today marks the 32nd mass protest, with citizens once again taking to the streets to demand the government’s removal and the non-negotiable resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama.

From the podium set up in front of the Prime Minister’s Office, one of the protesters declared that the civic revolt is continuing, despite the expectations of those who thought this movement would fade away within a short time.

He stressed that those taking part in the protest remain committed to their five main demands, underlining that the most important of them is the immediate resignation of Edi Rama and his government cabinet.

“Today we have entered the second day of the second month of the protest. Those who thought we would tire quickly have now understood that they were wrong. Today many citizens were at SPAK at 10:00 to deliver the book ‘The Albanian Files,’ to show support for the institution and at the same time to call on it to investigate this as evidence of a crime. We have indications that oligarchs invested in the projects included in this book, having prior guarantees from Rama that he would change the law after they completed the projects.

We continue to stand firm on the five demands articulated over the 32 days of this protest. The first, non-negotiable demand is the immediate resignation of Rama and his government. He is the most corrupt prime minister we have had to date. He has half of his government in prison or under indictment and is trying to protect them through parliamentary immunity. We must not forget to ask SPAK to speed up the procedures for lifting Belinda Balluku’s immunity, which would open the way for justice to act,” the protester said.
