Prosecutor seeks pretrial detention for 40-year-old from Kratovo suspected of stabbing a police officer

The Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office in Kumanovo has launched an investigation against a person suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Assaulting an official while performing security duties.” In addition, the prosecution has requested that pretrial detention be imposed.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the 40-year-old suspect from Kratovo attacked two police officers on September 11 while they were carrying out their public security duties as part of an effort to prevent a crime. The incident occurred after the officers used force and opened the locked door of the room where he was located.

During the confrontation, the suspect seriously injured one of the officers by stabbing him with a knife. The police officer sustained a stab wound and a cut.

The public prosecutor submitted the request to the preliminary proceedings judge, arguing that there was a risk that the suspect could flee or repeat the criminal offense.
