The Special Prosecution has announced that its investigations into espionage and cooperation with the Serbian intelligence service, the BIA, are not limited to the cases made public so far. Four convictions have been handed down to date, while the justice authorities are working to uncover a broader network suspected of obtaining sensitive information about security institutions and political developments in Kosovo.

According to the Prosecution, those involved are suspected of having been recruited by the Serbian intelligence service and assigned specific tasks and contacts by it. Investigations are also continuing into other individuals suspected of collaborating with the BIA.

Kodraliu says that over the past two years, the Special Prosecution has stepped up its counterespionage activities. According to him, these investigations have identified other individuals suspected of involvement in BIA activities in Kosovo.

Investigators suspect that the individuals under investigation sought to gain access to official documents and confidential data. They also focused on information about security institutions, Special Police officers, former KLA commanders and political figures.

One of the cases linked to the Serbian BIA is the terrorist attack on the Ibër-Lepenc canal. Prosecutor Kodraliu says the main suspect in the case had ties to the Serbian intelligence service. According to the Prosecution, scientific evidence, records of entries into and exits from Serbia, telephone communications with BIA officials and other materials have been obtained and are currently being analyzed.

Fatmir Sheholli is among those publicly named as BIA collaborators. Prosecutor Kodraliu confirms the suspicion that Sheholli provided assistance and information to Serbian intelligence service structures, specifically to BIA official Bojan Dimiq.

The Special Prosecution stresses that counterespionage investigations will continue and that anyone suspected of collaborating with the Serbian BIA will be subject to investigation. The stated aim is to prevent any attempt that could undermine Kosovo’s security and constitutional order.
