Fehim Sali suspected to be person arrested in Merdare for espionage

A Kosovo citizen with the initials F.S. was stopped at the Merdare border crossing point, suspected of committing the criminal offense of “Espionage”. The news was made known on 13.08.2026, at 11:06.

The Special Prosecution of Kosovo announced that the arrest was carried out on its order by police investigators from the Directorate for Investigation of Organized Crime and Serious Crimes, following investigative actions conducted by the competent institutions.

“The Special Prosecution of the Republic of Kosovo, in cooperation with the Kosovo Police, will continue to take all necessary investigative actions to fully clarify the circumstances of the case,” the statement published on Facebook said.

The arrested person is suspected to be Fehim Sali. The operation under espionage suspicions was jointly conducted by the Kosovo Intelligence Agency, the Kosovo Police, and the Special Prosecution.

According to RTK, suspicions are that Sali collaborated for a long time with the Serbian Intelligence Agency (BIA), also maintaining contacts with the official of this institution, Zelimir Matović.

Fehim Sali is a teacher at the Serbian school “9 Maji” in Rapçë, Dragash. In the past, he was also engaged in the Consultative Council for Communities at the Office of the President.

He is also suspected of mediating for Serbian properties and documents, as well as being involved in collecting votes for supporters of Aleksandar Vučić.
