As reported by CNN, the UAE attorney general said that the possibility of a premeditated conspiracy with terrorist objectives was being examined.
The individual is suspected of having planned to take control of the aircraft and use it as a vehicle for a suicide attack against the airport terminal.
Authorities have described the alleged plan as an attempt to cause as many casualties as possible.
However, the investigation is still in its early stages, and the charges filed so far do not constitute a final court ruling.
According to CNN, the suspect has been identified as Hammam Al Hammami. Investigators in the United Arab Emirates are working to clarify the circumstances of the incident, the possible motives and how the attack was allegedly prepared.
