Pilot saves the situation after private jet malfunction and makes emergency landing in Ohio

A private jet was forced to make an emergency landing on Tuesday afternoon, August 18, at Ohio’s Akron-Canton Airport after its nose landing gear malfunctioned and stopped working.

The aircraft was a NetJets Cessna Citation that had departed from Washington Dulles International Airport. The problem emerged during the flight when the nose landing gear mechanism failed to deploy properly.

Recordings made at the airport show the rear wheels touching down on the runway while the pilot kept the nose of the aircraft raised. This maneuver prevented the front of the aircraft from hitting the runway and avoided a potential accident.

Firefighters and witnesses said that, before landing, the pilot flew over the airport several times in an attempt to resolve the problem and activate the landing gear.

An experienced pilot who was near the airport and filmed the incident said that his colleague followed the prescribed emergency procedures.

“He did everything possible. As you can see in the video, he did an excellent job,” he said.

The aircraft came to a safe stop on the runway, while fire trucks and the airport’s emergency response teams arrived at the scene immediately.

The incident did not cause serious consequences. The pilot’s response and maneuver during the landing made it possible to avoid a situation that could have ended much worse.
