Përparim Rama questioned over “Capital’s Architect”: I have repeatedly sought cooperation with the Prosecution

Pristina Mayor Përparim Rama was questioned by the Special Prosecution as a defendant in the investigation into the “Capital’s Architect” project. He is suspected of abuse of official position.

After the questioning, Rama said it was the Prosecution’s responsibility to verify whether any laws had been violated in the project.

“On this matter, as on others, I have repeatedly sought cooperation with the Prosecution. That is why I appeared, although some, such as the prime minister, do not. We are ready to cooperate, because that is how a democratic state works. My duty is to develop the capital, while the Prosecution must ensure that everything is carried out in accordance with the law,” Rama said after leaving the Special Prosecution.

The Special Prosecution also confirmed that Rama had been questioned over suspicions of abuse of official position.

“The Special Prosecution informs you that the person with the initials P.R. was questioned as a defendant as part of the investigative actions being carried out in the criminal case ‘Capital’s Architect’, concerning suspicions of the criminal offense of ‘Abuse of Official Position or Authority’. The Special Prosecution is undertaking the necessary investigative and procedural actions in accordance with the legislation in force,” the institution’s spokesperson, Arbnora Luta, said.

The case concerns the 12-million-euro contract for the “Capital Architect Service.”

Earlier in the day, Gëzim Sveçla, head of the Vetëvendosje Movement’s assembly members in the Pristina Municipal Assembly, published a document. He did so after Rama appeared before the Special Prosecution as a suspect in the “Capital’s Architect” project.

“For the services of the Capital Architect’s Office, the Municipality of Pristina paid a total of 1 million and 48 thousand euros for October and November 2023 alone.

According to the description on the invoice, the service worth more than 1 million euros was CONSULTANCY!!

Meanwhile, the total value of the project contract is 12 million euros.
