LVV Files Criminal Complaint Against Përparim Rama and His Cabinet Officials

Vetëvendosje Movement assembly members in the Pristina Municipal Assembly today filed a criminal complaint with the Special Prosecution Office of the Republic of Kosovo against the capital’s mayor, Përparim Rama, as well as senior officials in his cabinet. According to them, the move is based on an anonymous whistleblower report received on Wednesday evening.

LVV representative in the municipal assembly Blerita Abazi said the submitted material contains messages alleging the unlawful legalization of buildings and involving large sums of money. According to her, the communications also mention the chief of staff to the mayor of Pristina.

Abazi said LVV had appeared before the Special Prosecution Office to file the criminal complaint against Përparim Rama and senior officials in his cabinet following a whistleblower report that, as she put it, was received yesterday afternoon from an anonymous person.

She explained that they had received a large number of messages by email discussing unlawful legalizations and substantial sums of money. According to Abazi, one of the people in these communications is alleged to be Përparim Rama’s chief of staff, while the other participant remains anonymous.

The conversations included in the whistleblower report mention companies and construction projects, as well as sums of money, while alleging that the legalizations in question are entirely unlawful.

The Vetëvendosje Movement called on the Special Prosecution Office to open an investigation to determine whether the allegations contained in the criminal complaint are true.

Emphasizing the importance of the whistleblower report, Abazi said the complaint was being formally submitted and that the Special Prosecution Office was being asked to launch an immediate investigation. She described the case as a major scandal and said it was the prosecution’s duty to investigate and determine whether the whistleblower’s allegations were substantiated.
