Përparim Rama after statement on Special Court verdict: Kosovo spoke with one voice

Pristina Mayor Përparim Rama commented on the Kosovo Assembly’s adoption of a declaration concerning the verdict against former KLA leaders in The Hague.

In a Facebook post, Rama stressed that adopting the declaration with the support of the institutions was vital. When it comes to the war for freedom and Kosovo’s history, he said, shared responsibility must take precedence over political disagreements.

“On an issue that touches on our history, the war for freedom and the foundations of the state, Kosovo spoke with one voice today. The Kosovo Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration on the verdict against former KLA leaders in The Hague was vital. The people’s sacrifice, the liberation war and the historical truth about Kosovo demand that political differences not outweigh our shared responsibility,” Rama wrote.

He added that the Assembly’s position must also be heard clearly beyond Kosovo.

“The state stands above the parties, and our historical truth above the interests of the day. Justice must be fair, and history must tell the truth. When the foundations of Kosovo’s freedom are called into question, the country must stand united. The Assembly conveyed this message today, and it must be heard forcefully beyond Kosovo as well,” Rama wrote.
