Speaking after taking up the post, Murtezani described the responsibility as the beginning of a new stage in his professional career and, at the same time, as a continuation of his commitment to a secure North Macedonia, which remains a reliable ally in the Euro-Atlantic family.
According to him, being a NATO member is not only a privilege but also entails obligations, especially at a time when security cannot be taken for granted.
From June 2024 to December 2025, Murtezani served as minister for European Affairs. After the local elections, he was dismissed, although Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski had previously announced that Murtezani would remain part of the cabinet and would be tasked with overseeing the implementation of the Reform Agenda.
In his new post, Murtezani will represent North Macedonia in one of the most important institutions of Euro-Atlantic security.
