Operation in Vau i Dejës over cannabis, brother and sister arrested while village head and forest ranger investigated

Police have arrested two people in Vau i Dejës, a brother and sister suspected of cultivating narcotic plants in the village of Kroni i Madh.

According to the official statement, the police operation codenamed “Monitoring” was concluded after intensive checks on the ground and investigations carried out using proactive methods, focused on identifying and cracking down on cases of narcotic plant cultivation, as well as identifying those responsible.

During the operation, in the territory of the village of Kroni i Madh, a considerable number of suspected narcotic Cannabis Sativa plants and saplings were discovered growing. Most of them were destroyed by burning, while another portion was seized as material evidence.

Investigative actions made it possible to identify, capture and arrest citizens P. P., 33, and A. P., 43, residents of the village of Kroni i Madh, suspected as the perpetrators of the cultivation.

The case materials were also referred to the Prosecutor’s Office and proceedings were initiated while they remain free for citizens D. D., 51, head of the village of Kroni i Madh, and N. G., 56, a forest ranger, for the criminal offense of “Abuse of office.”

Police say checks will continue throughout the territory of Shkodër County, with the aim of preventing, detecting and cracking down on cases of narcotic plant cultivation.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction in Shkodër for further action.
