57-Year-Old Arrested in Tepelenë for Growing Cannabis Plants in Pots Among Progonat Canyons

An anti-drug operation conducted by Tepelenë Police led to the arrest in the act of a 57-year-old man suspected of cultivating narcotic plants in a remote and difficult-to-access area in the canyons of the village of Progonat.

The operation, codenamed “Rrjedha,” was completed following an investigation using proactive methods, conducted by officers from Tepelenë Police Station in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, with the aim of documenting the suspect’s criminal activity. As a result of the police intervention, I. M., 57, a resident of Tepelenë, was arrested at the scene.

According to police, he had cultivated 175 suspected Cannabis Sativa plants, planted in pots and placed among the Progonat canyons in an attempt to conceal them from inspections.

A 57-year-old man who had cultivated narcotic plants in pots among the canyons in the village of Progonat was arrested at the scene.

A total of 175 suspected Cannabis Sativa plants were destroyed.

Following an investigation using proactive methods, conducted by officers from Tepelenë Police Station in coordination with the Prosecutor’s Office to obtain legal evidence documenting the criminal activity of a person suspected of involvement in the cultivation of narcotic plants, the operation codenamed “Rrjedha” was completed.

As a result of professional police surveillance and intervention, the suspect, I. M., 57, a resident of Tepelenë, was arrested in the act deep inside the canyons in the village of Progonat, where he had cultivated 175 suspected Cannabis Sativa plants in pots.

Anti-cannabis inspections are continuing throughout the region.

The procedural materials were referred to the Prosecutor’s Office at the Gjirokastër Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction for further action.
