OBRM-PDUKM denounces poor administration in Gostivar, over 1,000 residents report poisoning symptoms from polluted water

The ruling party OBRM-PDUKM has leveled strong accusations against the local governing coalition in Gostivar, composed of LSDM, BDI, and the Alliance for Albanians under the leadership of Arben Taravari, for what it describes as a catastrophic administration. According to them, the lack of professionalism and irresponsible actions at the helm of the municipality have directly endangered the well-being of the population.

The political formation claims that there is serious evidence that municipal authorities have installed pumping equipment in the sewage system, with the aim of amplifying pressure in the water supply network. This intervention, according to OBRM-PDUKM, could be the source of contamination in the drinking water supply.

Over the past few days, more than a thousand residents of Gostivar, including minors, have presented themselves at hospitals with pronounced symptoms of poisoning. The party strongly suspects that these cases are a direct consequence of the contamination of drinking water.

“This ugly picture is the reality of local governance in Gostivar. With irresponsibility, amateurism, and in violation of the law, actions are being taken for which the citizens gave their trust. Depriving residents of the fundamental right to clean and safe drinking water proves that LSDM, BDI, and Taravari are incapable of running the municipality,” states the harsh statement of OBRM-PDUKM.
