Nexhmedin Danaj, Owner of “Vlora Cable,” Arrested in Dubai after Being Wanted for Money Laundering

Nexhmedin Danaj, the owner of “Vlora Cable,” has been detained in Dubai after being declared wanted as part of an investigation into money laundering and drug trafficking.

Investigators suspect that Danaj was involved in the circulation and laundering of money believed to have come from cocaine trafficking. Investigative findings indicate that part of these funds is suspected to have been transferred to Dubai through “General Trading LLC,” a company registered in the United Arab Emirates.

Investigators linked his name to the international operation “Ura,” conducted by SPAK in cooperation with Italian authorities against groups suspected of international drug trafficking and money laundering.

During the operation, Danaj’s company, “Vlora Cable,” and the “Dubai Inn” business were seized. According to SPAK, the investigation conducted between 2020 and 2025 documented 40 drug-trafficking episodes, including cases involving cocaine and heroin.

The operation in Albania and Italy resulted in 52 security measures being imposed. Authorities also seized assets, companies, vehicles and sums of money suspected of being linked to criminal activity.

Investigative proceedings against Nexhmedin Danaj are ongoing. Following his arrest in Dubai, legal steps are expected to be taken for his extradition and handover to the judicial authorities.
