Arrest in Dubai: Police Reveal How Nexhmedin Danaj Paid for the Purchase of Large Quantities of Drugs

The State Police has announced the completion of another phase of the international operation “The Wanted,” conducted in cooperation with the authorities of the United Arab Emirates.

Thanks to coordination between specialists from the Directorate of Interpol and the structures of Interpol Abu Dhabi, the provisional arrest was carried out, with a view to extraditing to Albania, of N. D., a 57-year-old man.

The arrested individual had been declared internationally wanted after, in April 2026, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime had imposed the security measure of “Arrest in prison” on him. He is suspected of the criminal offenses of “Drug trafficking,” “Laundering the proceeds of a criminal offense or criminal activity,” “Structured criminal group,” and “Commission of criminal offenses by a criminal organization and structured criminal group.”

According to the investigation, the 57-year-old operated as part of a structured criminal group, co-financing, facilitating and coordinating the transport of narcotics from Latin America to European Union countries.

The authorities also suspect that N. D. used sophisticated financial schemes, including digital transfers, to make payments of considerable value in several countries for the purpose of purchasing drugs.

Interpol Tirana and Interpol Abu Dhabi are continuing their cooperation to complete the procedures that will enable the extradition of the 57-year-old to Albania.
