New resignations from LDK following its stance on the Specialist Chambers

Vlora Mjekiqi Kabashi, an LDK assembly member in the Obiliq Municipal Assembly, has announced her irrevocable resignation from all positions and duties within the party.

She said she would continue her mandate in the Obiliq Municipal Assembly as an independent assembly member.

Mjekiqi Kabashi previously also served as chairwoman of the LDK Women’s Forum in Obiliq, and was also a delegate to the LDK Electoral Assembly.

She linked her decision to leave to the LDK’s stance on the issue of the KLA and developments related to the Specialist Chambers.

“Aware that the KLA War was a war for freedom, also supported by the US and NATO, and convinced that freedom is more important than any party affiliation, since the LDK did not support this fundamental principle that freedom stands above every party, I hereby submit my irrevocable resignation from all duties and positions I hold in the LDK,” she wrote.

She expressed gratitude to the citizens of Obiliq for the trust they had placed in her and reiterated that she would continue working as an independent assembly member.

During the day, Labinot A. Mirena, also an assembly member of the party in Obiliq, submitted his resignation from the LDK.

Mirena irrevocably withdrew from all structures of the Democratic League of Kosovo.

He said the reason for his decision was his disagreement with the LDK’s stance toward the KLA leaders who are being tried in The Hague.

“Therefore, as of today, I will continue my mandate in the Obiliq Municipal Assembly as an independent assembly member, with clear positions and with responsibility toward the citizens of Obiliq who have given me their trust to represent them,” he said.

Meanwhile, LDK lawmakers did not take part today in the vote on the Draft Law on the Specialist Chambers.
