A massive landslide in Gyirong County, near the city of Shigatse in Tibet and on the border between China and Nepal, has claimed 95 lives. Meanwhile, hundreds of people remain missing, including 291 tourists.

Rescue teams are continuing their search for those who have yet to be found. According to data reported by the BBC, the list of missing people is believed to include 133 Indian nationals, at least 47 Americans and 33 Britons.
Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for search-and-rescue operations to be intensified and for all necessary measures to be taken to manage the situation. A spokesperson described the scale of the damage as “beyond imagination.”
