Nela: LDK Must Emerge from Rugova’s Shadow and Return to the Right

Commentator Milaim Nela sees the LDK’s extraordinary assembly as a decisive moment for the future of both the party and the state of Kosovo.

According to him, the Democratic League of Kosovo must reassess its political role, distance itself from nostalgia for the era of Ibrahim Rugova, and focus on strengthening institutions and defending national interests.

Nela argues that the LDK has moved away from its original identity as a right-wing, anti-communist force, contributing to the loss of support among its traditional electorate.

He also criticizes the party’s shift toward left-wing ideologies and what he calls “Sorosism,” urging the assembly to bring about a profound change in the LDK’s political direction.

WHAT IS EXPECTED FROM THE LDK ASSEMBLY?

Tomorrow, the LDK will hold its extraordinary assembly.

This is an important moment not only for the future of this party, which once played a dominant role on the political scene, but also for the future of Kosovo itself.

The LDK must responsibly assess its position and mission, bearing in mind the role expected of it by the electorate and, above all, the interests of the state of Kosovo.

The party must accept that the era of its founder, Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, ended 20 years ago. For this reason, his name cannot be used or misused as a cover for its incompetence and failures.

Dr. Rugova and his associates operated under entirely different circumstances and in a completely different period. The mission they had set themselves was accomplished with complete success, even exceeding objectives that most Kosovo Albanians had never imagined.

Today, however, the LDK faces new political circumstances.

The challenge of our time is no longer Kosovo’s liberation from the occupier, but the strengthening and consolidation of its state.

Kosovo today faces challenges such as ensuring the functioning of its institutions, defending its territory, and preserving its territorial integrity against a highly aggressive and heavily armed Serbia that is particularly active diplomatically, especially in its relations with the United States.

The LDK must remember that it was founded as a right-wing, anti-communist party, even though it included left-wing factions that soon departed.

It must also carefully analyze its current ideological direction, particularly its growing closeness to the Soros factor, which I consider a major threat not only to the LDK, but also to the future of Kosovo and the Albanian nation in general.

From my perspective, the LDK has completely abandoned right-wing positions.

Today, there is effectively no right-wing party in Kosovo.

As a result, a society with a conservative foundation and family and traditional values has been left without political representation.

The LDK’s alarming shift to the left is, in my view, the main reason its traditional voters have abandoned it en masse.

The LDK leadership must understand that moving closer to the party founded by Miladin and Dushan in Tirana will be punished by Kosovo’s voters.

It must also take Sorosism seriously; otherwise, this factor will erode and destroy it, just as it has done to political parties in Albania.

Soros and Sorosism are no laughing matter. They are a genuine cancer and, unless they are fought by every means available, tomorrow may be too late, even if there is an awakening.

We expect seriousness and good news from tomorrow’s LDK assembly.
