NATO Warns Iran: We Are Ready to Confront Any Threat to US Targets in Europe

NATO said today that it is ready to address any threat in response to reports that Iran is considering attacking US military targets in Europe if US President Donald Trump escalates the war.

“As demonstrated earlier this year, when NATO air defenses successfully intercepted ballistic missiles heading toward Turkey from Iran on four separate occasions, our deterrence and defense posture is strong and effective,” a NATO official said.

In March, four suspected Iranian ballistic missiles heading toward Turkey were neutralized by NATO defenses. Iran denied at the time that it had launched the missiles. Cyprus was also attacked by drones in March.

Media reports say that Iran has considered the possibility of attacking US military targets in Europe if Trump escalates the war. In response, the NATO official said that the military alliance is prepared to confront any threat and will always do whatever is necessary to protect all allies.
