Mira Murati Named by TIME Among the 100 Most Influential Figures in the Development of Artificial Intelligence

“Mira Murati says she wants you to have a choice.” With this sentence, prestigious magazine TIME opens its article about the renowned Albanian, whom it has named among the 100 people exerting the greatest influence on the development and direction of Artificial Intelligence worldwide.

For OpenAI’s former chief technology officer, this recognition is particularly significant. Murati has become one of the most prominent figures of Albanian origin in the AI industry. This year’s selection includes executives from leading technology companies, researchers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, artists and representatives of the creative industries, at a time when AI is exerting an ever-greater influence on the economy, society and culture.

On the global cover of TIME100 AI 2026, Mira Murati appears alongside some of the most important names in technology, including Sam Altman, Elon Musk, Dario Amodei, Jeff Bezos, Larry Ellison, Ilya Sutskever, Fei-Fei Li, Arvind Krishna and Eddie Wu.

TIME has classified the 100 selected figures into four groups: Leaders, Innovators, Shapers and Thinkers. The list is not limited solely to the field of technology, as it also includes figures from politics, business, the arts and international organizations.

According to TIME editor-in-chief Sam Jacobs, this year’s selection reflects an Artificial Intelligence industry that is becoming increasingly “explosive but also disruptive.” He emphasized that the sector brings together and pits against one another technological, economic, political and creative interests.

The magazine’s list also features numerous figures from China’s technology and AI industry. Their presence reflects the intensifying competition between China and the United States in the race to develop and dominate Artificial Intelligence technologies.
