Fires continue in several areas of the country, with seven active hotspots and an Armed Forces helicopter taking part in the operation

The Ministry of Defense announced that, by 14:00 on August 28, 10 fire hotspots had been identified in Albania. Seven of them remain active, two have been brought under control, while one hotspot has been completely extinguished.

The active hotspots have been reported in the Tirana, Dibër, Vlorë, Gjirokastër and Korçë regions, where emergency teams continue working to contain and extinguish them.

Three hotspots have reignited on Mount Dajti. To deal with the situation, 25 firefighters and employees of the Protected Areas Agency have been deployed.

Dibër County remains the area with the highest concentration of fires, specifically in Qafë të Helmës, Vajkal and Sllatinë. In Vajkal, 53 personnel are operating, including 20 members of the Armed Forces, while an Armed Forces helicopter has also joined the operation.

More than 40 municipal and volunteer personnel are on the ground in Sllatinë. Authorities say these hotspots do not pose a threat to inhabited areas.

The intervention in Tërbaç, Himara, is being carried out by firefighters, supported by two fire engines.

Flames are also continuing in Tërbuq, Gjirokastër, where three firefighters and one fire engine have been deployed. Another active hotspot has been reported in Plovisht, Maliq, where three firefighters are working with one fire engine.

The hotspots identified on Mount Dardha and Mount Qukës are being monitored. According to the Ministry of Defense, they do not pose a threat to inhabited areas.

To support local structures, 20 members of the Armed Forces and one helicopter have joined the firefighting operations, with intervention in Vajkal given priority.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation, while Civil Protection structures and teams on the ground are working to fully extinguish the hotspots and prevent them from reigniting.
