Albania continues to burn/ 27 wildfires still active, flames in Dajt, Dibër and Shkodër

Albania continues to face wildfires in several areas across the country, while the situation remains under constant monitoring by the authorities.

Over the past 24 hours, 27 wildfires have been reported, four of which remain active and another four are under surveillance.

Active fires have been reported in Dajt, Tirana; Vajkal, Bulqizë; Lundre, Mat; and at Ura e Shtrenjtë in Shkodër.

A total of 432 operational personnel and 43 firefighting vehicles have been deployed on the ground, supported by 70 military personnel and three Air Force helicopters.

According to the Ministry of Defence, none of the active fires poses a threat to populated areas, while the deployment of 90 military personnel in Bulqizë, Mat and Tirana is planned for today.

Over the past 24 hours, 27 wildfires have been reported, four of which remain active and four are under surveillance.

A total of 432 operational personnel and 43 firefighting vehicles have been deployed to deal with the situation, supported by 70 military personnel and three Air Force helicopters.

The deployment of 90 military personnel in the municipalities of Bulqizë, Mat and Tirana is planned for today.

Active fires:

Dajt, Tirana – active fire continues in the direction of Qafë-Priskë. Yesterday, 15 firefighters, nine ADZM personnel, 20 military personnel and one helicopter were deployed. There is no danger to populated areas.

Vajkal, Bulqizë – an active fire is burning across a wide area of shrubs and juniper in rocky terrain. Eleven MZSH personnel, five forestry personnel, seven volunteers and 30 military personnel were deployed.

Lundre, Mat – the fire continues across a considerable forested area; 40 MZSH/forestry personnel, 20 military personnel and one helicopter were deployed.

Ura e Shtrenjtë, Shkodër – an active fire in steep terrain; work is under way to contain it and prevent its spread.

Fires under surveillance continue at Qafa e Helmës (Bulqizë), Qafa e Lugut (Korçë), Mount Qukës (Prrenjas) and Zhejë (Kurbin). In all of the above cases, no danger to populated areas has been reported.

The National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC) continues to monitor the situation around the clock throughout the country, in close coordination with the prefectures, municipalities and all structures of the civil protection system.

Operational capacities remain deployed on the ground and on standby to intervene wherever the situation requires, with priority given to protecting lives, homes and citizens’ property.
