Ministry in North Macedonia withdraws 33 primary school textbooks and launches competition for new editions from 2027/28

Thirty-three textbooks for first, second, fourth and fifth grades of primary education will be withdrawn from use, the Ministry of Education and Science in North Macedonia announced.

The books will be withdrawn starting in the 2027/28 school year. According to the Ministry, they are in their fifth year of use and need quality improvements and updated content.

Through its Pedagogical Service, the Ministry has announced a competition for new textbooks for the relevant grades. The aim is for the new editions to be ready for use in the 2027/2028 school year.

Meanwhile, following the approval of new curricula, textbooks have been secured for the seventh and eighth grades of primary education, as well as for the first and second years of secondary education. To administratively close the procedures, it was decided to withdraw a total of 108 textbooks previously in use: 17 for seventh grade, 18 for eighth grade, 35 for the first year and 38 for the second year.

The Ministry explained that withdrawing these editions is intended to administratively conclude the procedures, since the new textbooks have already been secured and are in use.

A competition is currently open for textbooks for the ninth grade of primary education and the third year of secondary education. These editions are also expected to be available at the start of the next academic year, 2027/2028./Telegrafi/
