Milaim Nela: The 1940s conflict was a fratricidal civil war; Albanians deceived by history

Publicist Milaim Nela has once again intervened in the debate over the country’s past, describing the period known as the National Liberation War as an internal clash and not a fight for freedom.

Through a reaction on social platforms, he harshly criticized researchers who continue to support the current interpretation, considering them defenders of a dark chapter in national history.

According to him, Albanian society remains unclear about the truth of those events. He argued that the discussion on history remains captive to the inherited communist influence.

In his full article, Nela emphasizes that this period cannot be treated as merely debatable, certainly to justify the position of historians he calls pro-communist. He clearly defines it as an internal, deeply fratricidal and criminal war, orchestrated by Serbo-Slavic elements, whom he identifies as the true founders and masters of today’s Socialist Party.

The publicist expresses deep regret that, even after 114 years of existence as a state, Albanian citizens still have not faced the reality of events that have left deep traces and continue to be fed what he calls the lies of the fossils of the communist regime.
