The Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning has announced that, as part of the largest nationwide cleanup campaign, citizens will for the first time be given the opportunity to deliver their waste to the sanitary landfills of the Kosovo Landfill Management Company (KLMC).
According to the announcement, this is considered an important step toward eliminating illegal dumpsites and building a more orderly, safer and more lawful waste management system.

Waste from citizens will be accepted at the sanitary landfills in Mirash, Landovica, Velekinca and Dumnica.
MESP also announced that waste will be accepted every Saturday, from 08:00 to 16:00, at a fee of 10.31 euros per ton, while payment may be made only by bank card.
The announcement emphasizes that only non-hazardous waste will be allowed at the landfills, in accordance with the legislation in force, while hazardous, toxic, hospital, explosive or legally prohibited waste will not be accepted.
The ministry also said that citizens now have a legal option for disposing of waste, and therefore any dumping in nature or in inappropriate places will be treated with zero tolerance and punished in accordance with the law. The announcement adds that protecting the environment is the responsibility of each and every one of us.
