LVV and PDK clash over the tenth seat on the Central Election Commission

The Vetëvendosje Movement has requested that its third member also be included in the composition of the Central Election Commission.

The request was announced by Hysen Durmishi, who was recently sworn in as LVV’s representative on the CEC. According to him, the final decision on this matter rests with Acting President Albulena Haxhiu.

“The Vetëvendosje Movement has also requested its third member, while the acting president will decide on this,” Durmishi said after being appointed as a member of the CEC.

The Democratic Party of Kosovo has also claimed a second seat on the Central Election Commission. Its representative at the institution, Rashit Qalaj, declined to comment to the media on the matter.

On Monday, Albulena Haxhiu, acting as president, appointed the new members of the Central Election Commission.

Following their appointment, the CEC currently has nine members, while the tenth seat remains vacant. LVV and PDK are competing for the position.

Hysen Durmishi and Violeta Durmishi are LVV’s two representatives on the CEC.

Rashit Qalaj represents PDK, Ilir Fetahu represents LDK, and Muharrem Nitaj represents AAK. The other four seats belong to representatives of non-majority communities.

In the previous term as well, Albulena Haxhiu, as acting president, did not appoint the tenth member of the CEC. For this seat, LVV is seeking to appoint its third representative, while PDK is aiming to appoint its second representative.
