Lushaku-Sadriu: Political will makes the formation of institutions possible

Democratic League of Kosovo MP Jehona Lushaku-Sadriu said that the constitution of the Assembly demonstrates that institutions can be established when parliamentary entities show political will.

According to her, the LDK took part in the constitutive session after the Vetëvendosje Movement changed its position. During the session, the LDK’s candidate for deputy speaker of the Assembly, Kujtim Shala, was also elected.

Lushaku-Sadriu said the delays so far had resulted from the lack of political will on the part of the largest parliamentary group. She recalled that at the previous session, the LDK had requested that political parties be recognized as having the right to nominate their own candidates for deputy speakers. After the change in position, the LDK joined the session and its nominee for deputy speaker was approved, thereby contributing to the formation of the country’s institutions.

The MP said the LDK’s position had been to make full use of dialogue and the opportunity to submit nominations. Meanwhile, she said that the PDK had adopted a new political position.

Lushaku-Sadriu described the situation as a new one, since until now there had been no willingness to vote on the deputy speakers and the parties had not been recognized as having the right to submit nominations. She stressed that the candidate of the second parliamentary group had not been voted on and that this had created the same logic for continuing the process. According to her, the LDK called on all parliamentary groups to exercise their right to dialogue and submit their nominations. She added that the PDK had decided not to participate in the session and would refer the matter to the Constitutional Court, while the LDK would contribute to clarifying the legality and constitutionality of the institutions.
